Rehabilitation

Breaking Barriers provides specialised personal training, sports massage and sports therapy for adults after injury or illness.

We aim to work alongside our clients and the system supporting them to establish clear goals for our work together and to create an individualised treatment plan to help reach these goals.

We work creatively and flexibly utilising our skills and experience to help our clients develop their strength, range of movement, toning, fitness and reduce pain.

We are skilled at adapting our interventions to support our clients cognitive or emotional difficulties and to work closely with families, carers and professionals to help design the most suitable interventions and to implement interventions in between our sessions.

Our one-one private gym facilities enable our clients to work out in an environment with minimal distractions, enabling them to focus on their physical rehabilitation without the pressure of a busy gym environment.  However when are clients are ready we are able to accompany them to train in a larger gym environment when or if this is suitable.

We are experienced in working with clients who are involved in litigation as a result of their injuries.

Spinal manipulation is safe treatment for Neck, Back, Rib cage, Shoulders & Hips if you feel you have ongoing issues and a constant dull ache or loss of movement, This could be the treatment for you, Breaking barriers has qualified Therapists to assist in your treatment.

Physiotherapy in Aylesbury Vale area

Breaking Barriers provides Neurophysiotherapy as well as MSK Physiotherapy in the Aylesbury Vale area.

Akshay qualified from the University of Brighton in 2007 and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. After completing 2 years of junior rotations in the NHS he moved into neurological physiotherapy. His passion for neurological rehabilitation stems from his interest in human movement. In particularly, how movement is controlled by the nervous system and how it can be influenced by other body systems and the world around us. Akshay has undertaken extensive post-graduate clinical courses and academic study which enables him to offer a high standard of physiotherapy.

Over the past 8 years, Akshay has gained experience in both the NHS and private sector working exclusively within neurological physiotherapy. From the hyper-acute stroke ward, acute neurology, in-patient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation and community based rehabilitation. He is very experienced in the assessment, treatment and management of a variety of neurological conditions. Akshay is proud to be able to balance evidence-informed practice with the needs of those he works with and so he would say his approach is eclectic. He seeks to first understand the aspirations, goals and preferences of those he works with before formulating an individualised treatment plan based on the best available scientific research evidence.

Testimonial

I met joe at my work place he was always so friendly and we would always have a good catch up about his business (breaking barriers) I told him I was thinking about losing some weight as after having 2 babies I had lost my shape and most of all my confidence, I felt fat and hated the way I looked.
Joe told me about a diet plan that he thought would really help kick start my diet and give me maximum results. He was there every step of the way to answer any questions I had and even would message me to see how It was going. After only 5 weeks I have lost over half a stone! I feel fantastic and have so much more energy and my confidence is starting to come back. I still have a bit more to lose but for the first time in nearly 3 years I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Although I am not a paying customer joe has helped me every step of the way and I can honestly say I couldn’t of done it with out him and his diet plan. Thank you joe for your help, guidance and support, but most of all for giving me back my confidence.

When i met Joe 1 year ago i weighed 16 stone 10, i suffered many medical problems, One being sleep Apnea which involved me wearing a mask every night, which was one of my worst experiences. After many months i asked if i could be re-tested. I was told by the consultant i needed to lose a lot of weight, So with Joes help and a lot of hard work i have lost 5 stone, i now weigh 11 stone 10. I have now been retested and i am please to say i no longer have to wear the mask. The change in my nutrition was extremely difficult and the exercise given was very hard work. I wanted to give up but Joe kept me on track, And pushed me. I would like to say a big thank you to Joe and Breaking Barriers.
